The empathy and humility to say yes

Empathy helps us understand the needs and perspectives of the people we serve, keeping us grounded in their realities. Without it, we risk becoming bureaucrats who create rules and regulations that are not only impractical but also cause unnecessary hardship. As the proverb reminds us, to truly understand another person’s circumstances, “we must walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.”
